CHANGES:

Fee structure change:

All bands will pay the same fee to participate in the 2002 Greater St. Louis Marching Band Festival.

The Entry Fee for the 2002 Festival will be $900.  $500 will be due on June 1st and $400 due on Oct 1.

Excused from the festival:

A band may be excused from the festival for one year only and may return the following year when the band director has no control over the schedule of events that may conflict with participation in the festival.  The band must pay the full entry fee on the year that is missed.  A band electing to attend another event, contest or festival will not be excused

 Judges tapes:

Ask judges to speak clearly and not chew gum or eat during the time they are making verbal comments.

Videotapes:

Ask TV production director to get more inclusive shots rather than individuals - especially those in the pit

Participation trophies:

Keep the participation trophies as part of the award ceremony.

Performance times:

It was agreed that the current method of assigning performance times should not change.

i.e. Top five bands from previous year be given last five performance times in that division and that all others draw for performance time.

Split divisions:

A discussion was held regarding each division performing at the same time i.e. without splitting into the AM and PM division as it now stands.  No decision was made but this will be discussed at the September meeting.

Report time:

It was suggested that the festival should provide an escort from the warm-up area to the pre-performance area.

However, some directors do not want to be interrupted during their warm up.  It was decided that the festival would not provide an escort. It was the responsibility of the director to be in the pre-performance area on time.

Exit from field:

A band may only use a drum click when exiting the field and performance area.  A drum click is identified as a stick-on-stick or stick-on-rim.  A cadence, rim-shot, or stick-to-drum head is not allowed.  The drum click must end when the band is out of the performance area.

Banners and signs:

Directors should remind parent and student groups of this no banners or signs are allowed in the dome.
